This property has not changed in any way at all since it was reported originally. The council updates suggest the owner intended to repair the house & move in by Xmas, as mentioned ... which Xmas?! The owner has not been seen anywhere near the property for at least 18-24 months, possibly due to the rumour he now lives abroad? Another update suggests the owner did not have the funds to restore the property but he is rumoured to have bought & renovated other properties in the 10 plus years he has owned this one. To sum it up no action has been taken by the owner regardless of the 3 updates from York Council. The property is still an eyesore and the community are not pleased.

Which Xmas is this then? As I would think it impossible for the house to be habitable by Xmas '09. Plus we have heard this before and yet still the house is empty & in need of repair! The house is still a complete eyesore and the owner has not been seen for over 18months, let alone following his holiday in August as suggested above!

Telephone call made to the owner requesting an update. He advises me that he still plans to move back to the property at the end of the year. He has November off during which he is hoping to complete the renovations with a view to moving in before Christmas.

I have been in contact with the owner. His long term plans for the property are unchanged but I have drawn his attention to the concerns of the community regarding the overgrown gardens. He advises me he is on holiday at present but will visit the property to clear the gardens upon his return in a few weeks. I have asked that he contacts me to confirm when
this has been done.

Nobody has been near the house since our last contact. The weeds in the back garden have grown another foot, and are now 7 foot high. The house is in exactly the same state as when posted on the site.

Thanks you for your report.
We have been aware of this empty property since 2005 and have been in contact with the owner to provide advice and assistance on bringing the property back into use. On one occasion the property was secured by ourselves as it was open to trespass but as far as we are aware has been secure since then. The owner lives away from the City and in the past has advised us that he has not had the funds to rennovate the property. I have spoken to him again today and he has advised that he now has the funds to begin work and hopes to move in himself by the end of the year. I will monitor this situation over the coming months.
